My CO used to say that the Marine Corps breaks everyone’s heart eventually. What he didn’t say was that for 99% of marines this heartbreak is immediate and permanent.

When I was a Marine, and all my buds were getting "Death Before Dishonor" tattoos I wasn't ready to make that kind of commitment, so I got one that reads "Mild Discomfort Before Dishonor." Semper Fi!
