One of the last things I told my mom before I left was "Dont Pick up the first phone call I don't want you guys to forget my address. If you forget it, no need to look for the thing you wrote, play back the voicemail." I remember a lot of trainee's saying that their family sent mail, but forgot the address and/or didn't write it correctly cause of the moment. Family, don't worry about hearing their voice at BMT, cause you'll hear it once they graduate. They'll be fine, they'll be ok.

My dad was in the Air Force before he married my mom. My husband was in the Army and my nephew was in the Marines . My dad showed me how to make a bed like he did in the Air Force. Both parents passed away a few yrs. ago. My handsome husband passed away in 2004 from a heart attack at home. Miss the every day.

So proud of them! As an Army veteran and Air Force officer, I believe it’s important for people to recognize the recruiting crisis we face in this country. Anyone willing to step up and serve deserves our unwavering support and respect. As leaders, it’s our responsibility to adapt. We don’t get to pick and choose who we work with—it’s our job to train them to be the best they can be, help them accomplish the mission, and guide and mentor them to achieve their life goals. Be kind to them! I was once a “dumb private” myself, but now I’m a medical officer and proudly serving.

Samuel is a great instructor. She may seem hard but there is a great balance with her. She encourages the trainees not to be discouraged when they do not receive mail and adds a little light hearted banter. That is a great leader. Kudos to her and the trainees should be glad to have her as their instructor. Those are the DIs I remember from boot camp
